Shakers Food Truck Case Study

For this project my first idea was actually very different and was going to be a continuation of another project that I had done earlier in my graphic design classes, but my teacher wanted to see a fresh idea that had nothing to do with my past projects. The original idea revolved around making my truck 50s themed with a 1955 bel air wrapping the bottom of the truck so I started to try and think of new ideas. So off to Pinterest I went.
After a little bit of thought I became obsessed with the idea of using roller disco as my theme because I have a love of roller skating and 70s inspired fashion right now. I started thinking about the lighting of the roller rink that I used to work at and loved the idea of putting a working disco ball on the top of the truck. I felt like another big part of the design that I loved was the use of neon lights which is where the ideas for the logo came from. Below are a few different Ideas that I had revolving around the neon signs.
After figuring out what I wanted to use for my logo I started to work on my background of the truck which is supposed to look like the lights that move around at concerts and make everything in the room look cool. Below I have the rough draft of my food truck where I was trying to decide if I wanted the multi colored lights or just the pink lights like on the back of the truck. I struggled with if I wanted the clean cut look of the lights on the side of the truck or if I wanted the diffused look of the pink on the back of the truck.
In the end we can see that I ended up liking the clean line look from the draft and ended up using it for the final product. After a little bit of editing and refining my work I started putting my artwork into a photoshop mockup template and ended up with the truck that you see below. Working with the mockup was a little bit hard at first because I was one of the first people in my class to try to tackle it, but I ended up figuring it out pretty quickly and was able to even help out my other classmates when they had questions about how the mockup works.
